Executive Chef Dylan Herrick started his career in 2006 in Woodinville washing dishes at The Herbfarm and Barking Frog and worked his way into the kitchen with a lot of passion, determination, and mentorship from top chefs in Seattle. In 2022, Dylan rejoined the Barking Frog as Executive Sous Chef and has spearheaded new innovations in the menu, winemaker dinners, and partnerships with local purveyors and farms to feed his passion about sustainability and curating local ingredients. The result of Dylan's talented team's work is the illustrious Barking Frog menu. Complemented by our wide selection of globally and locally sourced wines, you'll struggle not to identify Barking Frog as the best restaurant on the eastside. What's more, many of our local wines originate from the many Woodinville wineries, situated right on Barking Frog's doorstep!
We’re known for our phenomenal wine list, which highlights the world-acclaimed wines of the Northwest. Our cellar is deep in stellar wines from Washington state growers. We also look beyond our own backyard to collect exciting wines and legendary classics from around the world. Our sommelier is exceptional at pairing wines to our food and your tastes—no pretense, just knowledgeable suggestions and a passion for sharing great finds. We are proud to have received Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence for five consecutive years.
We will gladly open your personal bottle of wine for $35 per bottle. Please limit your corkage to two 750ml bottles (or one 1.5L) per party.
Barking Frog is named after the Native American use of the frog as a symbol of abundance. Storytellers say, when frogs bark, it’s a sign of peace and harmony – our wish for every guest who walks through the door. A large circular table surrounds a fireplace where guests gather all year round for a meal or one of our special Winemaker Dinners.
Recently named Wine Manager for Willows Lodge, Courtney Smith has been in the restaurant industry since she was able to hold a bus tub. As a child of a professional chef, she spent her days off from school in the kitchen helping prep or in the dining room clearing dishes. As a graduate from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts, she initially pursued a law degree before realizing her true calling was in food and beverage hospitality. Courtney fell in love with wine as she expanded her career in the restaurant industry where she worked with several sommeliers at the top of their field and each inspired her to learn as much as she could about the history, science and execution required for the creation of fine wine. She is an avid fan of Washington wine because of how experimental and community-oriented the industry is here. In her downtime, you will find her snuggling her pups, riding her bike or playing video games.
Welcome to our new Sommelier in Barking Frog, Torrey Lewis. Torrey has been in the hospitality business for over 12 years. His career began at South Seattle’s Pastry and Baking Arts program. After working in baking and pastry for several years before switching to hotel service and then ultimately catching the wine bug, Torrey takes a more relaxed approach to wine and beverage service. He guides guest experiences looking to create memories, and go beyond standard service, aiming to be relatable and knowledgeable. Torrey’s wine experience includes working at Purple Café and Wine Bar and Light Sleeper Wine Bar, both in downtown Seattle. He has also completed the Certified Sommelier accreditation with the Court of Master Sommeliers, as well as the Italian Wine Scholar certification. He is currently pursuing the Advanced Sommelier accreditation through the Court of Master Sommeliers. In his spare time, he pairs wine and music with his opera singer fiancée, as well as being an avid but fairly unsuccessful fly fisherman.
